Pros And Cons Of The South Beach Diet

The South Beach diet is one of the most well known diets. Believe it or not, it wasn’t originally designed to help you lose weight. It was actually created by a cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Agatston, who wanted to use it to fight heart trouble. It just so happens that it can also help with weight loss.

If you want to try the South Beach diet but don’t know where to begin, there are plenty of books on it. You could also visit the website. If you need meal plans, recipes or shopping lists, that’s definitely the best place to start.

The diet focuses on a combination of good fats, like olive oil, proteins and good carbohydrates. It helps you to keep your blood sugar levels from peaking and lets you avoid food cravings. In short, it allows you to eat food that tastes good and is also good for you.

The South Beach diet isn’t about stopping you from eating the food types that you love. It’s about adapting them to be healthier.

For example, if you like to eat a lot of spaghetti, don’t worry. You still can. You just might want to trade in the regular pasta for whole grain pasta. You might also want to switch to other foods that are low on the glycemic index, such as wheat breads instead of white.

The three phases of the South Beach diet can be tough, especially the first phase. The first phase is very restrictive so it might give you a bit of a shock. If you can get over the initial limitations though, you can get great results. Soon, you’ll be able to move on to other phases and eat a wider variety of foods.

So, carefully examine the pros and cons of the South Beach diet before you decide whether or not it’s the right diet plan for you.
